post BIG BUZZ-BIG CONCERN-BIG TV

India’s viewers are awash with satellite TV choices, and now another entrant has joined the highly competitive arena. Telco giant Reliance ADA Group has launched its Big TV, and is looking to replicate the spectacular growth it has achieved with cellular telephony in the pay-TV market. Big TV has been testing and trialing its offering for some months, but is now offering consumers 202 channels including 50 VOD “channels”.

“With the launch of Big TV DTH, we aim to accelerate the growth momentum enhancing value of many million shareholders of Reliance Communications,” Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance ADA said in a statement.

Reliance is seeking to tap into a 40% market share within one year, not so much by “stealing” from rival players like Zee TV’s Dish, TataSky and Sun Direct TV, but in expanding the overall market for DTH pay-TV. Currently some 6m homes are equipped for DTH, and most observers are predicting a rapid expansion of the market. Big TV will try to grab share from market leader Dish TV (3.5 million subs), TataSky (2.3 million) and Sun Direct (over 1 million).

With 200 channels at launch, packages from Rs100 to Rs450 a month, and available in 6,500 towns and cities, the group is sparing no expense on the platform. It is also going for its competitors’ jugulars from the off, comparing its own value with Dish TV’s (143 channels for Rs262 a month on the Welcome Pack) and Tata Sky’s (92 channels for Rs200 a month in its Family Pack).

Arun Kapoor, CEO, of Reliance Big TV, said: “Competition is present across 30,000-35,000 retail outlets across 4,000 towns, with us launching in 6,500 towns, there will be a decent gap. We will offer nearly 10 audio channels, 32 movies channels, among others. Of the 32 movies channels, English movies channels will be pay per view while the regional and Hindi language movies channels will be based on subscription.”

Kapoor added: “Today DTH is less than 5 per cent of the total TV market, which we are waiting to capture. There is enough room for the players to grow profitably in the future.”

Reliance is seen as having a special advantage locally in that it is already heavily involved in telecoms, broadband, home video and film production. In other words there are very real opportunities for Reliance to cross-market Big TV in these related zones of interest. Reliance has some 2000 retail stores of its own (for its telephony operation) and has placed trained staff in 6500 other cities and towns.

Having already been available to Reliance Energy customers who number 3.5 million and 2 million PCOs controlled by Reliance Communications, Big TV starts with between 100,000 and 150,000 subscribers.

Unlike Zee or TataSky (or pubcaster Doordarshan) Big TV is depending on MPEG4 for its transmissions which manages to carry more channels per satellite transponder than its rivals. Its receiver boxes also come equipped with hard drives for recording content.

Next up is a matching IPTV service, says Reliance, by the end of this year.

post Government ought to put in place a very strict anti-terror law

September 16th, 2008

Filed under: Current Affairs..! — admin @ 8:07 am

Terrorists struck in the Indian capital again in a big way Saturday. All blasts were of low intensity. The defused bombs used a cocktail of ammonium nitrate, gun powder, ball bearings and nails, with timer devices. It is the same kind of bombs used in Jaipur, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. They were set off using electronic timers.

Responsibility for the attacks was claimed by Indian Mujahideen, a home-grown terrorist group with links to Pakistani extremists. It first came to prominence in May 2008 when it is said to have been behind a series of bombings in Jaipur, killing 63 people, and in Ahmedabad that left 56 dead in July 2008.

Indeed, Delhi has been a frequent target of terrorists as the following figures will show:

It is nauseating how innocents are being killed everywhere in India by terrorists. It is sickening to find these terrorists using the name of Allah to justify their acts. In the name of the freedom guaranteed by the constitution, they are out to destroy our country.

Those in power keep saying that terrorism will be dealt with strongly, but we do not even have a specific anti-terror law in position. The question which the highly protected government leaders should ask is how long will our people live in fear in our own country.

This is not terror or low-intensity strikes. This is war on our country. Indian citizens are caught in the war zone. The sooner the government realises this, the better it will be. It should remember that all is fair in love and war. You cannot give excuses and not fight this war.

There are no rules in killing an enemy who is out to kill you. The government should rise above vote bank politics and enact strict model anti-terror laws. Incidentally, the anti-terrorist laws passed by the Rajasthan and Gujarat assemblies are gathering dust in New Delhi.

If the government cannot assure security, it should forget about development and foreign direct investment, industrialisation and higher economic growth. The choice before India is simple: defeat terrorism or be defeated by it. Defeat it we must…!!!

post The real reason & cause for accident…!!!

September 11th, 2008

Filed under: Experiences in my life..! — admin @ 6:56 am

Often there arises a question in my mind why people don’t follow the basics while driving on road..!!!! I often think y people are so absent minded or being very negligable in following simple & easy rules while driving..!!! Hundreds of times I’ve personally experienced with these kind of fishy people..! I wanna share a small incident which took place currently in front of my eyes..It happened near Egmore railway station..I was returning from my friends house..there are many diversions in that road & there were many people who wanna take a right turn to park in railway station while some left & while some straight..! There were also old people who wants to cross the road..A santro car came speeding up to take a right turn without even a horn nor an indication..He was least bothered about other people on road..He didnt even notice a bike coming towards his right side & bike fellow was perplexed which way is this santro car going..He was giving horn but then too the car didnt budge side even little..And finally santro dashed the bike & the bike person hit a very old lady who was trying to cross the road..!! All in all a big & unneccessary accident took place. All because of his negligence, carelessness, & arrogance of santro soul….!!I All were yelling at him”y the hell he didnt give indication” but he didnt care any one’s words & was still arguing that his mistake wasn’t there..!! Oh my god what a soul he is..!! Not accepting his mistake & didnt even bother to tell a sorry also..!! So sad of the poor lady..I immediatly went helped the old lady & dropped her to her desired place & amazing was she knew me already through orphanage but from many years i’ve not seen her even once..I could tell she is such a sweet lady..!! Just because of his carelessness it resulted to accident & wasted most of many job holder’s time due to traffic jam created by him & people being hurted..!!!! Why people dont follow some basic rules atleast to avoid all these stuffs..!!!!??? Why people are so head weighted & arrogant like this..?? These questions often come to my mind when i see these kind of wierd creatures…!!The graph below tells us that 17% of injuries due to accidents..This graph is of 2000 but i guess now it must have increased to great extent..!! People can bring this percentage down if they follow atleast the basic rules while driving..!

JPEG

And cops ought to penalize these kind of people..!!! But they often stop bikes of people who are perfect in driving & collect money from them without any reason which is absolutely wrong..!!! But i guess once if cops penalize people who are wrong then all accident rate will surely be decreased to great extent..!!

post Latest Talks On TATA Nano

September 9th, 2008

Filed under: Current Affairs..! — admin @ 7:49 am

JPEGTalks over Tata Nano car deadlock

In this corporate world Nano is the cheapest car..with good facilities..n this is one of my favorite car where i opt to buy this…Below is the latest buzz on this..

Talks have been held in the eastern Indian city of Calcutta to try to end a dispute over the building of the world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano.

The state governor called meetings with government and opposition “fruitful”. More negotiations are due on Saturday.

Tata Motors suspended work at the plant in West Bengal state on Tuesday after protests over the acquisition of land from farmers and opposition parties.

The company has said it would consider relocating the car plant.

The conflict has already led to loss of life.

A few hours after Tata announced its plans to suspend work at its car factory, a villager there allegedly committed suicide fearing loss of work for his sons.

And at least six small farmers had earlier killed themselves in Singur when their land was acquired for the Tata project.

Compensation

The BBC’s Subir Bhaumik in Calcutta says Tata bosses are not taking part in the discussions, arguing the crisis is political and they have no role in it.

After Friday’s negotiations Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi said: “The talks were fruitful and constructive – it helped both sides understand each other much better. We will meet for talks again on Saturday.”

The leader of the opposition in the West Bengal assembly, Partho Chattopadhyay, also called the talks “fruitful”.

“But we cannot talk of a solution now. We need more discussions.”

The state government said it had made several proposals and was waiting for the opposition to respond.

Opposition supporters have been protesting for a fortnight at the Tata plant in Singur – some 50km (31 miles) north of Calcutta – demanding that 400 acres of requisitioned land be returned to local farmers.

The communist-led state government says that is not going to happen.

Over the last few days there have been protests in Calcutta in support of the Tatas.

The West Bengal business community fears that if Tata leaves, few will want to invest in the state, which is one of India’s poorest.

Tata Motors chairman Rata Tata said on Thursday that the company was doing everything possible to launch the Nano on time but it all depended on what happened in Singur.

He had earlier indicated the car, expected to cost 100,000 Indian rupees ($2,500), would be launched in October.

Our correspondent says the state government – which acquired the land for Tata – appears to be ready to offer improved compensation to the farmers.

If that offer is turned down, the world’s cheapest car may have to be built somewhere else.

post My All Time Favorite Song…!!!

Filed under: MOVIE CORNER..! — admin @ 7:42 am

Every night in my dreams
I see you, I feel you
That is how I know you go on.

Far across the distance
and spaces between us
You have come to show you go on.

Near, Far,
wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.

Once more, you opened the door
And you’re here in my heart,
and my heart will go on and on.

Love can touch us one time
and last for a lifetime
And never let go till we’re gone.

Love was when I loved you,
one true time to hold on to
In my life we’ll always go on.

Near, far,
wherever you are,
I believe that the heart does go on.

Once more, you opened the door
And you’re here in my heart,
and my heart will go on and on.

You’re here, there’s nothing I fear
And I know that my heart will go on.
We’ll stay, forever this way
You are safe in my heart

and my heart will go on and on.

This song is my all time favorite song which has an amazing & hearty lyrics….i never ever get bored listening to this beautiful song from famous movie Tatanic….!!
