Ingredients

Rice flour – 200g

Nendran banana – 4 nos

Sugar – 50g

Salt – 2 pinches

Cumin seeds – 2-3 tsp (slightly crushed)

Turmeric powder – 2 pinches

Oil – to deep fry

Method

Take the rice flour in a bowl and add all the ingredients except the fruit and make a smooth paste with water or milk. The consistency of the batter should be such that, it should flow from a ladle slowly, so it should be that thick, which is the right consistency. Now peel the banana skin and slit a single banana into four parts and keep aside. Heat oil in pan to deep fry the bananas, check whether the oil is hot, now dip the slit banana in the batter and slide it inside the pan slowly. Fry till it is done. It will turn into light golden yellow color, remove it from the oil then, strain the oil and serve hot. It needs no chutney or any such dips; it will taste great and yum as such. Beetroot cutlet!

Ingredients

Beetroot – 3 medium sized

Potato – 1 large

Onion- 1 big (finely chopped)

Green chillies – 2

Coriander leaves – 5 tsp (finely chopped)

Cumin seeds- 2tsp (slightly crushed)

Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp

Garam masala – 1 tsp

Semolina – ½ cup

Maida -1/2 cup

Corn flour – 2tbsp

Fried cashews – ½ cup (broken into small pieces)

Bread crumbs- ½ cup.

Ajinomoto – a pinch

Salt- for taste

Oil- for deep fry

Method:

Pre preparation

Boil beetroot and potato, peel the skin, grate and keep it aside.
Grind the two green chillies into a smooth paste with little lime juice if preferred and keep aside.
Mix both semolina and corn flour and make a smooth batter with little salt and ajinomoto. Keep aside.
Keep a pan, add oil, and once it becomes hot add the crushed cumin seeds, followed by ginger garlic paste, green chilli paste and onions. Sauté until it is done. Then add the masala powders, salt accordingly and sauté once again, finally add the chopped coriander leaves and fried cashews and remove it from heat. Keep it aside to cool.

Preparation:

Take the grated beetroot and potato in a wide mouthed bowl and add the onion mixture to it and mix thoroughly. Make soft dough with the mixture, add salt if needed. Now make lemon sized balls out of the mixture and flatten it, like a shape of a cutlet patty and keep aside. Do the same to the whole of the dough. Take the flattened patties and dip them in the batter which is prepared followed by rolling it in the bread crumbs. Do the same to all the patties. Arrange it in a tray neatly and refrigerate it for an hour or so. Now, heat the oil in a deep pan to fry the patties. Slide each patty into the hot oil carefully and fry till it turns slight brown in color, since it is beetroot the color is such that it will be difficult for you to judge whether it is done or not so make sure you double check before you remove it from the oil and be near the pan until it is done, otherwise it might get too fried (burnt) also. Now fry all the patties and serve hot with yummy tomato ketchup or green chutney.

Pomegranate, Honey, Almond oil, Fruit mask

(For all skin types)

We do not recommend using it on acne skin.

What do you need:

1/2 Pomegranate
2 teaspoons Almond oil
1/2 tablespoon organic Honey

How to do it:

Warm the honey till it becomes liquid, don’t make it too hot. Pour the honey in a bowl and allow it to become luke warm. Peel the pomegranate and cut the fruit into pieces and put it in the bowl of honey, now add and mix 2 teaspoons of almond oil. Blend all into a smooth and uniform paste. Apply the paste gently and equally with your fingertips on your clean face and neck. Avoid area near the eye. Now lie down and relax, and leave the mask on for 15 to 20 minutes or may be till the paste becomes dry.

Wash it off with luke warm water and end with a splash of cold water. Now pat dry your face and neck with a soft and clean towel. Finally apply a moisturizer, to seal the water inside the skin.

Ingredients:

Onion – 4 to 5 chopped

Tomato – 3 nos

Green chillies – 3 slit

Ginger garlic paste – 3 tbsp

Panner – 1 whole pack

Green peas – 200 g

Masala powders

Chilli powder – 2 1/2 tbsp

Turmeric powder- ½ tsp

Roasted cumin powder – 2 tbsp

Cumin seeds- 1 tsp

Cardamom – 1 no

Kasuri methi – 3 to 4 pinches

Ghee or butter – 5 to 6 tbsp

Milk – ½ glass

Poppy seeds and cashew paste – 5 tbsp

Salt – to taste

Method:

First, sauté the onions leaving few teaspoons of it to use while seasoning. Sauté till the raw smell goes, grind the onion to a paste. Do the same to the tomatoes as well. Keep both separately. Now heat a pan add the butter or ghee to the pan , once it’s hot add whole cumin seeds and cardamom followed by ginger garlic paste, sauté for few mins, then add the left over chopped onions and sauté till its golden brown , now add the green chillies. Once it is sauté for few seconds, add the onion paste and keep stirring till the mixture is well blend together with other ingredients and cook well to give a good aroma. At this stage add all the masala powders(turmeric,cumin seeds pd,chilli pd) and salt , mix well with the onion mixture. Sauté till the oil separates from the mixture, at that stage add the tomato paste and blend the mixtures thoroughly. Keep it in low flame for few minutes. Now add the cashew poppy seeds paste and mix well. Again keep it in low flame for few minutes. Now add the cubed and fried panner and boiled green peas, mix well. Now add kasuri methi, little cumin seeds powder and the half glass milk. Mix it thoroughly and keep it in stove for few minutes and later remove it from the flame. Serve hot with butter nan or butter rotis.

I really dunno why these guys smoke?? I seriously have no clue what they get while they fag!! There are so many guys whom I know who smoke, and the reason they give is tension, I feel its utter non sense! There are few of my colleagues who say, its work pressure and work tension, which forces them to smoke, and it gives them relaxation! Hmmmmm … guess we have to experience it to approve the same. Smoking kills, I dunno why they don’t realize this, educated, well matured, but still they wanna be ignorant in this alone. My dad smokes, but till date we are not able to change this habit of his. He actually gets irritated if we stress on it too much, so we casually tell him every now and then, but in vain. Guess all guys are similar. There are lots of facts about smoking which each and every smoker should know, these facts should hit their mind, every time they light a cigar!!

Smokers have a limited sense of smell

You will be prone to a lot of chest infections

You are at greater risk of developing cancer. (Obviously!)

The best time I have ever had!!! – College Days!

Time is just rolling, it seems like only yesterday, I went back to my college for my PG(same college) after three years of my hectic UG. Hmmm it was full time fun, life totally changed after college, I really dint expect such a drastic change. When I was in college, I always used grumble each day, thinking when it will get over, I was waiting for my final semester exams to commence, cos that is it, it will all be over. But I was wrong, I dint know, that my best part of my life is gonna end very soon. I was happy then, but not now, I really want my college days back, the silly fights we used to have, our canteen food, our tasty exciting gossips, imitating our lecturers, cursing them, hmmm missing everything, though we were loaded with assignments and projects and other such stuffs, we had fun in our own way, which we miss now. I really can’t forget our lab hours, god!! Am in tears!! Trust me nothing like college life, for lotta them its school life which they consider to be the most wonderful days of their life, but for me it’s my college days, since I dint enjoy my school days much, I had ultimate fun in my college days, I really have to thank all my friends, for having given me good memories of college life, though I had bitter experience as well, I don wanna remember all that now, actually when I think of college days , I am able to think only about the good times we had!! I miss my corridors, our bike stand, our ganesha temple, our store room, our bakery last but not the least, our women Hitler, my HOD. I feel that each and every student should have studied under a HOD like her, my good gracious; she is simply superb, though she is really strict, she had that style in her, and I just adore her! Luv you Mam! Missing you, our department, your scolding’s, everything. All this nostalgia happened to me, because of one single message that I received this morning, it goes like this

Three cheers for all our men in blue, hip hip, hurray; hip hip hurray; hip hip hurray!!! Great, it’s worth the wait, we Indians waited for 28 long years to experience this wonderful moment once again. I was not even born, when we won the world cup the first time, I am so happy that it happened once again, for me to witness it. I was almost in tears when dhoni hit the last six, where I screamed at the top of my voice with tears in my eyes, it was such an amazing feeling, god!! It is truly magical, I dunno how it’s possible, and we feel so proud. My whole house screamed, in fact my whole flat, screamed and brought the roof down. We were so excited and were jumping in joy!!!

The two south Asian countries, (teams), gave us an edge-of –the – seat, final and a deserved victory for a cricketing nation which felt its time has come. It was a fine world cup, the best for 28 years. I have no words to describe this joy, it is really incredible! Each and every Indian soul would have experienced this wonderful feeling. We definitely have to thank our cool captain and his guys for that magnificent win, HATS OFF guys!!

Everyone knew that it is India who is gonna win, but we got a hiccup when we lost our Veeru in the first over itself, and that too for a duck. I totally got shattered when it happened, but I dint lose hope, I dint budge from place and was seated in my couch throughout the match and even after. Alas!! It happened!

Yippee……!! Yes we made it!! Each and every Indian’s wish came true yesterday! My whole flat was in a buzz at eleven in the night, where almost all guys came down to burst crackers and celebrate India’s grand victory. The whole country was so joyful with full of exuberance. The match between India and Pakistan, which we considered being more important than the world cup itself and we won it. It was a magnificent game, played by all our Indian darlings. Though our little master missed his 100th century with just fifteen runs, he played really well, helping a great deal to boost India’s score, and it was a very good play by Suresh raina, who made it to 260 somehow. We must say it was a real nail biting match, where everyone were seated in the edge of their seat to watch our bowlers bowl each and every ball. As we have reached the finals, now it’s time for us to keep our fingers crossed and pray, wish and hope for the best. I wish each and every Indian player a very very very all the best!! Wishing you all good luck!! Hope we can see a repeat of 1983 this time! Jai ho India!! Keep the good work going!

Waiting for “THE” day at Mohali !!

After that brilliant match on Thursday(24th march 2011), where India defeated the Aussie’s. each and every Indian heart is so overwhelmed with loads of hope in them of bagging the cup this time. before moving into the details , i must definitely state some incidents about this match, as i told earlier it was a splendid match! after a long day at office, got back home, where i saw my fifty year old dad glued to the television set with so much of enthusiasm like a fifteen year old would have. since am used to this from my childhood, i dint give it a heed. i was busy with my own work. i dunno wats there in this game that these guys are so crazy over them, few of my colleagues even took half day off, just for the sake of watching the match. the rest in the office had no peace where they weren able to concentrate neither in the match nor in the work. everyone in the office started betting among themselves and it was total fun. hmmmm moving on to my home scene… my dad who was busy watching the match in the living room in the ground floor .. t0 my surprise he came upstairs after some time telling the match was really getting into his nerves, and told that Gambir is playing a pathetic game.. telling this he went out for a walk… so after sometime i went down to our living room and switched on the idiot box to listen to some music, and when i switched it on, the first thing what i saw was a four hit by yuvraj singh, i got so thrilled so i started watching the match, i was awestruck to see the graph going up, where the number of balls increased and the runs started decreasing. it was a mind blowing game, we should admit. they played it so well giving it a lot of thought. Raina played a real good cricket. their partnership was simply superb ! you should have seen ponting’s face every time the ball went out of the boundary! poor fellow ! the Aussie’s who won the world cup for three consecutive years has now waved good bye and is waiting for Afridi to join them to tour India and get back to their respective home town’s to watch India bag the world cup this time. but before that grand finale, is the important match, yeah its the match between India and Pakistan. the most awaited match by each and every Indian and Pakistani. hope we do a great job even this time !! lets all wish our Indian players all the very best for the most important match. this match means a lot more than the world cup itself !! JAI HO !! INDIA !!
